Bumblebee Nest/Colony Removal: We are also happy to remove bumblebee nests/colonies from your location as well. Generally, bumblebees nest in a cavity of some sort near the ground and can easily be removed. When we remove a nest, we will provide it with food/nectar for a few days before moving it to a secure location for the remainder of the season. While there are only a few speices of bumblebee in Kansas, they are key pollinators and should be preserved when possible.
There are several species of bumblee in Missouri, many of them are declining in population so it is critical to preserve as many as possible. This is generally a free service, however, locations that are more than a 30 minute drive from Parsons, KS should expect to compensate for mileage at $0.40/mile.
Honeybee Education: We are no longer offering free education. Read below or see our Classes page.
We offer honey bee education to families, schools, scout groups, church groups etc.
Each lecture can be tailored to the age group present and can be as short
or as long as needed. Typically, presentations include an observation hive
with bees, posters, tools, and other paraphanelia of the trade. This service
is available from May to September and needs to be scheduled at least 2
full weeks in advance. Rates depend on number of participants, distance, venue, and other factors. Please contact us for a quote, we are very reasonable in our pricing.
We also offer on site education at our apiary location for small groups (10 people or fewer) with proper planning. These visits are very much dependent on the weather and may need to be rescheduled if the weather is not warm and sunny (available only from May to September).
