Honeybee Swarm Removal - Wild Attitude! Apiaries is happy to remove actual honeybee swarms from anywhere in Utah County in association with the Utah County Beekeepers Association (www.utahcountybeekeepers.org). This is generally a free
service, however, locations that are more than a 30 minute drive from
Pleasant Grove should expect to compensate for mileage at $0.40/mile. Check the UCBA website for beekeepers who are closer to your location. We do NOT remove hornets or wasps; please see the images below.

Bumblebee Nest/Colony Removal: We are also happy to remove bumblebee nests/colonies from your location as well. Generally, bumblebees nest in a cavity of some sort near the ground and can easily be removed. When we remove a nest, we will provide it with food/nectar for a few days before moving it to a secure location for the remainder of the season.

There are several species of bumblee in Utah, many of them are declining in population so it is critical to preserve as many as possible. This is generally a free service, however, locations that are more than a 30 minute drive from Pleasant Grove should expect
to compensate for mileage at $0.40/mile.

Honeybee Education: In conjunction with the Utah County Beekeepers Association, we offer FREE honey bee education to families, schools, scout groups church groups etc. Each lecture can be tailored to the age group present and can be as short or as long as needed. Typically, presentations include an observation hive with bees, posters, tools, and other paraphanelia of the trade. This service is available from April to September and needs to be scheduled at least 1 full week in advance. While this is a free service, locations that are more than a 30 minute drive from Pleasant Grove should expect to compensate for mileage at $0.40/mile.
We also offer on site education at one of our apiary locations for small groups (10 people or fewer) with proper planning. These visits are very much dependent on the weather and may need to be rescheduled if the weather is not warm and sunny (available only from May to September).

Honey Bee Hive Acetic Acid Treatment: We offer Acetic Acid (pure white vinegar) treatment for hives. This treatment is primarily for varrora mites but also treats for tracheal mites; it has also been shown to be a benefit for the reduction/prevention of other honeybee diseases. We charge $10.00 for the first hive and $7.00 for each additional hive. The treatment utilizes 35mL of a 33-35% solution of acetic acid which is volatized into a steam and blown into the hive via the front entrance.
The best time of year to treat is just after the honey harvest as the colony begins to go broodless. However, because acetic acid is a naturally occuring compound that is already present in the hive, treatment can happen at any time even with honey supers in place.
Some restrictions apply so please email for more information. No travel charges for beekeepers within 30 minutes of Pleasant Grove; minimal travel charges ($0.40/mile) beyond the 30 minute radius will apply.
